Saturday Show: White and Black and Red All Over!

Hello Peeps,

A couple of years ago Miss H and the Mother went to a lady's house each week with some friends because their friends wanted to learn how to make a quilt. It was a Mother and Daughter Quilt Class and there were 6 of them plus the teacher. Each of them made a sampler quilt.

The Mother and Miss H both decided to use the black and white fabrics that they already had and add some reds in. This is Miss H's sampler quilt (I will show you the Mother's next week).

Miss H's hexagon quilt is not the first EPP she has done - she stitched these tumbling blocks (which she hated doing so the lovely Mother finished them for her).

Miss H was the only one of the 7 people who made an attic window quilt block. She is sooooo proud of it and her little birdie.

Did you see the cool quilt rail it is hanging from? The Boss put it up a few days ago and it is perfect for displaying the Mother's and Miss H's quilts.

A Toastie Toaster!

Hello Peeps,

The Mother has been busy making something with a bit of red on it to add to her kitchen.

She spotted the grubby looking toaster and that was it - the poor toaster is to be hidden under a new cover from now on.

Here is the new cover. Isn't it soooo coolio?

The mother found a coolio font and stitched it in chain stitch.

And finally she used a bit of recycled ribbon. The ribbon was originally around a jelly roll.

Saturday Show: Stars in My Eyes

Hello Peeps,

Welcome to the 2nd Saturday Show.

The Mothers second quilt was a blue log cabin made shortly after she got married 25 years ago, but when they went to live in Kenya for a few years it was stored down at Grandad's building yard, but unfortunately the rats got into it - fantastic bedding for their young. Then she didn't make any more quilts for years and years but when they lived in South Africa she started again using material she bought on Ebay from the States.

All the Saturday quilts and stitcheries are what she and Miss H have made in the last 8 years in no particular order.

The Mother doesn't usually use a lot of blue in her quilts, but she loves the blue with pops of red in this quilt. Can you see me peeping over the top? I had to sit on The Mother's head so I could be seen.

Doesn't it look lovely draped over the stool?

The quilting was done by the Design Diva. Isn't it very funky?

Come back next Saturday for the next show.

Lollies, sweets, and candies!!!

Hello peeps,

Yesterday the Mother, Miss H and I took a friend down to Otorohanga. On the way back we stopped at Candyland.

Sitting among the lollipops. They are almost the same size as me!

I am the king of the Lolly Stack Castle!

Wow! A giant lollipop! It would take me 10 years to eat it all...

Yummy! Rock candy.

Look at the sweet treats Miss H and the Mother got (they promised to share).

Miss H got a passion fruit flavoured heart shaped lollipop. Do you think she will notice if I have a lick? As well as a peach flavoured rock candy stick which she ate on the way home.

The Mother got a banana flavoured rock candy stick. It's nearly twice as tall as me! The Mother also got some fudge. It was sooooo delicious we ate it all in less than a minute!

Also on the way back we stopped at The Mother's favourite fabric store - Grandmother's Garden.

I sat outside on this lovely chair while the Mother and Miss H did a bit of shopping.

Saturday Show: Under the Ocean

Hello Peeps,

Welcome to the first Saturday Show. Miss H, the Mother and I decided that because it was the first Show we should start by showing you the first ever quilt that the Mother made. She made it while studying to be a teacher over 25 years ago (before Miss H was born!). The Mother created it for an art project and won 1st place with it. At that point the Mother knew absolutely nothing about quilting.

The Mother painted the fabric.

I'm all wet from sitting in the ocean with the fishes!

Doesn't the fish look soooo coolio?

The Mother carefully painted this funky border. She used very fine tape so that she didn't get paint in the in-between bits. She didn't know about machine quilting either so it is just stitched in the white areas where the tape was.

Isn't it a very unique kind of quilt?

I hope you have enjoyed the first Saturday Show. Pop by next Saturday to see the next quilt in the show.

The Mother's Pouches!!!

Hello Peeps,

In the last post I showed you the pouches Miss H made on Pouch Day. Now I will show you the Mother's pouches.

Isn't this pouch so pretty? I love the fabric she used.

Can you see my feet sneaking into this picture? Heehee!

She made a Perfectly Pink Pouch!  It will be great in the new sewing room to hold all the machine threads.

Peek-a-boo! This pouch is sooooo coolio!

Oh look! She made an orange version too. And added a cute little tag.

The Mother also used a VERY special zip and made this lovely pouch. (Shhh... don't tell anyone but I think this one is my favourite.)

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

I have a special announcement to share with you. Every Saturday starting from Saturday the 16th of August I am starting the Saturday Show. I will be showing off the coolio quilts, table-runners, wall hangings, etc. that Miss H and the Mother have made. So pop by every Saturaday to see what they have created through their years of sewing (before I was even born!!!).

Miss H's Pouches!!!

Hello Peeps,

Remember the sneak peek I showed you last time?

Well, this is the adorable little pouch it made.

Perfect for Miss H's I-pod or cellphone to be kept in.

This isn't the only pouch Miss H made. She made four more as well. In fact, Miss H and the Mother spent all of Monday making pouches. (I will show you the Mother's pouches next time.)

Look at this one!  Nostalgia for the Mother - cassettes!  Miss H's thinks they look such fun and especially loves the colours.

She put a pretty red ribbon on the zip and I just love the black material she lined it with.
Look at that zip.  We found it in Grandma's zip container. Vintage!   Miss H loves it.
And I love the mustaches!  They make such a fun pouch - She put grey on the back as she only had a little piece of material.
This pretty floral one is for her colouring in pencils.  Newly sharpen!

Oooh!  Look!  Some of those pencils have snuck in here too.

I just can't decide which one is my favourite one.  I love this one too.  Specs!  They look so funky!

A GIANT Hexagon and Lessons in Crochet.

Hello peeps,

Me, Miss H and the Mother have been very busy this week. We visited the Design Diva - she makes amazing quilts and in a few weeks time I will show you some of them. One of the quilts she is making has hexagons - GIANT hexagons!

Look how big one of her hexagons is!

Miss H's hexagon looks miniature next to it. (I can only just get my eyes above it!)

Even her completed hexagon flower is small next to it.

We had to rescued a ball of wool the Enemy unwound all over the lounge.

Oops. The Mother won't be happy...

Miss Bee came and taught us how to crochet.  She taught Miss H and the Mother how to do chain, single crochet and double crochet.

This is Miss H's sample.

After the Mother finished her sample she started on her beanie. (The Mother did learn to crochet a looooooooooong time ago, but she couldn't remember so Miss Bee reminded her.)

And a sneak peek...

Pop by on Saturday to see what became of these bits of fabric and the zip.
