World Cat Day

Hello Paw-Pals,

Today is World Cat Day and unfortunately Luna found out and insisted that I be nice to her all day AND do an entire blog post about HER!

What a pretty cat.

Luna has one blue eye and one green eye.

She was originally going to be an indoor cat because of her deafness, but she loves the outdoors.
She loves me sooooo much that she never strays too far from home and always comes back.

We are the bestest of friends.
We balance each other out - I strongly dislike men, but Luna only likes men.

Driving through Snow to Wellington and Back

Hello Peeps,

On Tuesday Miss H, the Mother and I drove down to Wellington to visit the Geek. Miss H is on holiday at the moment.

Unfortunately they decided to go down the day before a major storm hit - well, it had already started actually.

This is the type of snow we had to drive through.

Miss H crazily left the warmth of the car to take thes pictures for you. I, however stayed where it was warm (plus I was hiding)!

Loo at the coolio snowmen some people made.
You'll just have to picture me on top of their icy cold heads or on the wet ground...

New Zealand really doesn't have that many main roads. In fact, unless you take a looong detour there is really only one road down the centre, which is known as the Desert Road. It is quite literally a desert and in winter it gets snow... Yes, that confused my sheepie brain!
Unfortunately, it was sooo snowed in that the Desert Road was closed and that meant the looong way. To give you an idea of the difference - usually a trip from Tauranga to wellington would take 6 hours, it took us 9!!! Whew!
But fear not, it wasn't all in snow, in fact about an hour later there was not a snowflake in sight. No wonder they say NZ can have 4 seasons a day!

Ahhhh! There I am all nice and cosy with my special crochet beanie and cape.

The storm hit Wellington quite severely with gale force winds. We all stayed inside except for the Geek who had to go to work - and as he doesn't drive Miss H and the Mother agreed to drop him off and pick him up so he didn't have to walk like usual.

The Mother took some fabrics down to cut up for a quilt.
She also quilted a quilt for a friend's baby (actually he's just turned one). I will get her to photograph it when the binding is done.

And look at the wool Miss H got to crochet a blanket for the Mother.

Oh and they went to a really coolio craft store, but you will have to wait and see what they got until they have made them into something. It might take a while knowing them...

I, on the other hand, didn't leave the apartment once and stayed snugly with my favourite comfort food. YUM!

The weather did eventually clear, though Miss H tells me it was still really cold. Especially the wind.

It is hard to see but those faint mountains are in the South Island.

The return trip home was much much better. And look how beautiful the mountain is with snow on it.

Brrrrr... Here are some of my crazy farm friends who don't seem to mind cold weather.

Thankfully I am now back in Tauranga where we don't get snow and the weather is warmer. YAY!

P.S. Can all of you from the Northern Hemisphere please send us some of your warm summer weather? Hee...hee...hee...

My Own Camera!

Hello Peeps,

Miss H made me my very own camera. And it is my favourite colour!

Miss H took me to a disused quarry that has been converted into an amazing park by volunteers so that I could try out my new camera.

Can you see me? I'm not usually on this side of the camera.

Is it straight, Miss H?

What about this one? Oooh, look you can see Mount Maunganui (the mountain in the centre of the picture)!

Haha! I snapped a picture of Miss H in her winter workout clothes (we don't get snow where we live). Shhh, don't tell her.

This path was made up of tiles that people all over New Zealand (and some from overseas) have decorated.

This is much harder than I thought... I think I will leave all the camera work to Miss H! After all, I am far more suited to being in front of the camera!

I met these lovely folks and their dog. Not very chatty though...

Look at the colour of the water! Aqua!

This sewing machine was the bestest part. It had a chain that lead away from the sewing machine as if it had been sewn. The sign in front said "Quarry Chain Stitch". Heeheehee...

P.S. Boring computer stuff - I was on Google+ but it then it made me a no-reply blogger, so I am no longer on it - I think, I could still be on it, but it said that I wasn't. Good news is that I am no longer a no-reply blogger. Phew! Bad news is that I am no longer on Google+.

Still Stitching on Colour...

Hello Peeps,

Miss H has been on intensives last week and this coming week. Intensives are when she has classes ALL day EVERY day. Really really boring for me who has to stay at home.

She has still got some stitching done in between times though (can't show you those ones yet as they are one of her super secret projects that she is working on...). But I can show you the ones she has been stitching on colour. This time yellow as well as pink again.

Here it is. Pretty coolio I think!

Though not seen in this photo because of the light, this is actually quite a bright yellow - the first photo shows the brightness better but still it is brighter! The Mother and Miss H decided that it was too bright to stitch on again because it changed the colours of the threads used quite a lot.

The other colours they got to stitch on - an aqua and a lighter pink to the one in the previous posts and below - are much lighter than this yellow.
But fear not, the Mother has decided to use the yellow as a background in one of her quilts!

This is not one of Miss H's favourite as she doesn't like purple but she had some purple thread and it matched the pink nicely so she gave it a go.

This kitten has the right idea snuggling up and falling asleep.

P.S. Miss H will reveal the super secret projects in September when she has finished stitching and sewing them. I will give you a hint - they will be perfect for using with infants and toddlers (which is who Miss H is learning about this coming semester).

Stitching on Colour - Pink!!!

Hello Paw-Pals,

Shhh... Don't tell the sheepie that it isn't really the weekend anymore. He told me to post on the weekend... and he can get quite grumpy if I don't...

The Mother was thrilled with her stitchery presents.

Here they are! The stitcheries are from the book "S is for Stitch" by Pretty by Hand.
It is one of Miss H's favourite books and she can't wait to stitch up the girl alphabet quilt from the book.

Apparently these are accessories... not something I would ever wear or carry around with me!

No way would you see me wearing a dress!

The Mother found this lovely fabric to make them into a mini quilt with (when she gets time). She loves getting stitcheries from Miss H because her favourite part is making them into something.

Stitching on Colour

Hello Peeps,

I am back for good now. Yay! Miss H is feeling much, much better. Yay again! Now, just because we have been away from Blog-land doesn't mean that we haven't been making things. So I have some new things to show you over the coming weeks. I am so excited!!!

First of all, Miss H and the Mother have been trying something new. It all started when they were watching old fashioned movies (romance ones - ew!) which had quilts in them. They noticed that many of the quilts did not use white as a background but instead used a colour - usually yellow. Miss H and the Mother were keen to try using a colour as their background - not just in their quilts but also for their stitcheries.

That was when Miss H found a bag of scraps the Mother had given her that contained five pink squares.

Miss H was at home up in Auckland, but the Mother was away visiting the Geek so Miss H decided to stitch up four stitcheries for the Mother on the pink squares and use the last one for something else.

Miss H drew the stitcheries with a water erasable pen. The Mother is usually the one who draws out all of the stitcheries as she is good at using a pencil (which Miss H prefers to stitch over), but one cannot make a surprise gift if the recipient has to draw it out!

I was hoping to show you more pictures but... Snowy got grumpy and shoved me out of the way and insisted that Miss H do something with him *. He is even lying on her stitchery bags so she couldn't do anymore stitcheries!!!

Miss H decided to take pity on Snowy and took him out - she even bought him an ice-cream!!!
He gets very sooky when the Mother goes away and acts as if his world has ended.
Maybe if I did the same Miss H would buy me chocolate...

The reveal of the completed stitcheries will have to wait until the weekend, along with the coloured fabric choices Miss H and the Mother made to try stitching on.

Design Floor Chaos!

Hello Paw-Pals,

The Mother arrived home from work to find her design floor a complete mess.

"Snowy! This is not how I left the design floor this morning." The Mother exclaimed.
I quickly told her that it was the cat!

"What? Me?" Purred Luna. "I am far too cute and innocent to destroy your design floor."

So it remains a mystery who caused chaos while the Mother was away... but maybe now the Mother will stop using the lounge's carpet as her design floor.

Slobbery kisses,
From Snowy!
